THE NO WASTE CAPSULES AWARDED AS THE BEST PRACTICE IN CIRCULAR ECONOMY
Last Wednesday November 13 Cafés Novell was awarded the 1st BASF Prize for the best practice in Circular Economy in Spain, in the SMEs category.
The awarded project has been the development of our new No Waste Compostable Capsules. Compatible with Nespresso ©, these capsules are the first in the market to contain 100% organic coffee and be 100% compostable, which means that they can be deposited in the organic fraction of waste. Under industrial composting conditions, the capsules are composted in a period of only 12-20 weeks (vs. more than 100 years in plastic and aluminum capsules).
Our manager, Josep Novell, collected the award at the delivery gala organized in Madrid: “The circular economy is key to our long-term strategy and we hope that with initiatives like this we will continue to promote a change towards a world with less waste.”
In addition to the Cafés Novell’s project, the entities Coca Cola Iberia, Consell Comarcal del Vallès Occidental, Recircular and the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria were also awarded for their initiatives in circular economy in the rest of the categories (large companies, public initiative, Start-ups and university research). These five projects have been the winners among more than one hundred nominations submitted for this award, promoted by BASF together with the Club de Excelencia en Sostenibilidad.
As an award-winning project, we will have the opportunity to participate in a worldwide workshop at BASF’s headquarters in Ludwigshafen (Germany), in which experts from the corporate, institutional and scientific world will participate. The objective of this meeting is to share the projects that have won the awards in Spain and learn about the initiatives that BASF is promoting worldwide in the field of sustainability and circular economy.
We are very proud to have received this award that highlights the effort made in recent years to develop our No Waste capsules. From here we send our congratulations to the rest of the winners and we hope that in the coming years more and more companies will join circular economy initiatives with the aim of achieving a more sustainable world for future generations.
